Every year, OU HASA (Hispanic American Student Association), hosts a Mr. and Miss. Hispanic OU pageant that recognizes two students from the Hispanic community who greatly represent leadership, scholarship, and dedication to their school and community. This year Mr. Hispanic OU was awarded to a friend of mine, Abraham Mendieta. We are in many leadership based clubs and organizations together on campus and it was amazing to see him rewarded for all that he does. He is truly one of the kindest souls I have met and I am glad he has been recognized for that. Miss Hispanic OU was awarded to Ana Sophia Perez and although I do not know her personally, I believe she truly earned her position. Each of the representatives who participated in the pageant were incredible and very deserving and I enjoyed seeing hard-working people be recognized within their community and around campus.
